DSC_0064 This is my family. Actually I should say that half this picture is my family and the other half are people that come to our Christmas lunch every year so they have practically become family. They're a little crazy at times but pretty great and I wish I could eat all that food again. Yum!

Boston

I remember the day I took this picture it was raining in the middle of summer. I took my black and pink polka dot raincoat out and rode to a nice little cafe a couple of blocks into the suburbs of Boston. In the afternoon I went on the Freedom Trail and learnt a lot about American history which was cool.

Heres some screencaps from the very sensitive and loving film Frances Ha that I saw over a month ago at Perth's Rooftop Cinemas. It follows Frances, played by the ever endearing Greta Gerwig, and her life in New York City with dreams that are ever so slowly being crushed by reality. The narrative tends to drift throughout the film, but I like to think thats the charm of it. It's measured and doesn't try to do anything too outrageous- it's just a moment in time, a moment we've all felt.

Photos from around Newbury Street in Boston, June 2013

So, here's a little update from me: over the past couple of months I have graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Political Science from the University of Western Australia. I have gone on to accept a place in their Juris Doctor program for 2014 (or in other words, a masters level Law degree). The decision to continue studying was a difficult one, a part of me felt ready to move on to the world of full time work but the other half knew (or should I say knows) that Law is right for me and I should be patient with it. My last semester was by far my hardest- there were several moments when I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to finish the semester in time but alas it is all done and dusted. The summer has brought great opportunity- I am currenty undertaking an internship at the Perth International Arts Festival in the Film Program which has me doing odd tasks here and there throughout the week. It also has the very big perk of being able to watch all the films in the program (I was meaning to write reviews of them all but I just haven't gotten round to it yet...) and being able to soak up what its like working in a festival environment. I am also working near full time hours at my current job (Hunt Leather) so fitting everything in has been difficult, but rewarding. I could go on for hours about everything that has happened- but they are the main details. Oh and I rewatched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind last night for the first time in a couple of years- man I can't even begin to explain how fantastic that film is.

Racer Five

C004618-R4-19-20_1C004618-R4-21-22_1 A couple of months ago now I went to the States for some adventuring. These two pictures are from my first night in Boston where I enjoyed a lovely cold beer and pizza in a super trendy bar in the South End. A little excerpt from my diary writes "I am seated at a really lovely restaurant probably more suited to couples and friends. Its a little lonely and the wait staff are looking at me funny - oh well, the joys of travelling alone!" FYI I went to the States because my boyfriend was doing a summer course at NYU, while he was studying I decided to do a little bit of travelling before I met up with him in NYC. More snaps to come..!

Twenty First Gifts

DSC_0435DSC_0438DSC_0440DSC_0441DSC_0442DSC_0445DSC_0446DSC_0448 I received the loveliest of gifts for my twenty first. My best friend Ella gave me three beautiful pearls that her mother is going to set in gold for me. My boyfriends family gave me lovely earings and a guest book in where everyone wrote lovely messages from the evening. His little sister gave me a super cool teacup. I also received some candles, nail polish, jewelry, a bottle of Dom Perignon (which will be saved for a very special occasion), some cool books which will be well read and heaps of other gifts (there seriously are too many to mention)! I feel so blessed to have such lovely people in my life that I hope I will stay good friends with in many years to come.

The best present yet was the Polaroid camera! I have wanted one for a very long time, but could never justify buying another camera, but alas it really is the coolest thing ever and I have been using it nonstop since last week! I can't wait to take my new baby to the big apple and snap away! Also, the film that I put into it seems to have this super cool border. If any of you guys who bought this are reading, you guys are seriously awesome.
